Pilgrims pray for the opportunity to one day experience a party as great as The Puritan’s annual BLACK FRIDAY bash.

We’re taking a day off today in honour of The Puritan’s annual BLACK FRIDAY bash. Join the editors, staff, and readers of The Puritan at The Monarch Tavern (12 Clinton) starting at 7:30 p.m ($5 or P.W.Y.C.). Help us celebrate the winners of our Second Annual Thomas Morton Memorial Prize in Literary Excellence: Aurora Brackett for her stellar short story, “The Edge of Mercury” and Nathan Slinker for his awesome poem, “New Pastoral.” BLACK FRIDAY 2013 also marks the electronic launch of Issue 23: Fall 2013 — a fantastic collection of fiction, poetry, and journalism to end the calendar year.

To usher in the glad tidings and the bountiful work published since January, authors published in 2013 will be providing live readings. These writers (so far) include: Rob Benvie, Laura Clarke, Liz Howard, R. Kolewe, Ben Ladouceur, Camille Martin, Bardia Sinaee, Jim Smith, Kilby Smith-McGregor, and Aaron Tucker. DJ Alex Brooks (@thealexbrooks ) will also be in attendance.

This is a must-see night of literary entertainment. We hope you’ll help us warm the halls of The Monarch Tavern tonight. Check out our Facebook event page for more info.
